What to do with your hair? - a real dilemma for the Bride at a beach wedding venue.
Wedding hair advice for your
destination or beach wedding.
The very elements we associate with a day at the beach are the very elements that can wreck havoc with your perfectly coiffed hair-do. Humidity, showers, ocean breezes, morning fog, heat, sweat, and bugs abound near the water.
Dont despair, with realistic expectations and proper planning you can have the wedding hairstyle of your dreams
even in at the beach!
Firstly, you must have realistic expectations of what is right for your type of hair. The hardest thing for clients to accept is that we always want what we don't have. If you have curly or wavy hair you KNOW what summer heat and moisture can do. Frizz! Think of hair as a sponge. It absorbs the moisture in the air, wavy hair gets wavier and straight hair gets limper.
If you have curly hair and hate the frizz, wear your hair up into a style that is designed to stay. Leave-in-conditioners, silicone based products, anti-humectants and wax styling aids will all help. If you want to wear your curls down and keep the fizz at ease, try slicking it back with one or more of these heavy styling products. But make sure to give your look a practice run!
If your hair is straight and has a hard time holding a curl, an updo of formed curls will keep its shape. If you dream of the ocean breezes blowing through your hair than go for it! Instead of relying on a style, allow a beautiful wreath of natural flowers or a striking live orchid become your focus.
Breezes coming off the water will wreak havoc with your hair, they best advice is to be prepared for the worst. Nothing looks worse than a bride who is constantly trying to remove long hair from her mouth while exchanging vows. Also be aware that if you leave the salon with long curls cascading around your shoulders that once the wind hits it will be straightened fairly quickly. Why not wear your hair up for the ceremony and then down for the reception?
If you have your heart set on wearing your hair down, at the very least enlist some help from hairpins, a tiara or wreath to keep it back from your face.
Brides with short hair have the advantage of their wedding hairstyle lasting much longer than their counterparts with long hair.
